We’re Andrew and Heather Vreeland and we have the most complicated of relationships: we’re married and we’re business partners. Here we share the most interesting highlights of our complicated world while juggling everything from bedsheets to spreadsheet in the quest for the ultimate work-life balance.
And now for the rest of the story….
We were married on November 25, 2006 in West Palm Beach, FL. We met about a year and a half prior via Yahoo Personals. Ironically both of us had pretty much “had it” with our previous long term relationships and we both turned to online dating as a last resort – lucky for us it worked.
Andrew went to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and graduated in 2004 with a degree in Air Traffic Management. He turned that into a very successful career with the Federal Aviation Administration to become what some would call “the world’s greatest air traffic controller.” He voluntarily retired from the FAA in 2014 after the birth of our son to pursue a full-time career at our company and enjoy the flexibility (and pressure) that comes with being your own boss and to be more present in Asher’s life.
Heather went to Flagler College and graduated in 2003 with a degree in communications. She took her curiosity of marketing and love of media and funneled those interests into her role as the Marketing Director at Debbie’s Day Spa and Salon until she met Andrew in 2005.
The two moved to Atlanta, Ga for Andrew’s career with the FAA in 2006 and it was there Heather began to explore their shared entrepreneurial interests while Andrew endured the rigorous training of the FAA. When the idea for a wedding and party media was inspired by their own budding business plan to refurbish a wedding venue – they did a 180 degree turn in the new direction and haven’t looked back since.
After relocating back to their “hometown” of St. Augustine, FL (neither are actually from St. Augustine but consider it to be home) their son, Asher was born on Christmas Eve 2013.
Heather is the creative dreamer, administrative side. Andrew is the realist, risk managing side. Oil and water, yet we are the yin to each other’s yang. Our imperfect relationship teters between perfection and disaster on a regular basis and we’re okay with that.
We are both prayer warriors and saved by the grace of God.
